You can then check out the examples and test out the scripts
sudo ./joystick.py
While I haven't tried it yet, it does seem possible to use pip to install this on other OSes
sudo pip install dot3k

Since using the above method doesn't seem to work on Arch Linux, we can do it simply with
git clone https://github.com/pimoroni/displayotron.git
cd displayotron/library/
sudo make
